Indiana

Indiana's 92 counties each operate under IC 36-8-10 Sheriff's Merit Boards — but those are employment civil service bodies dominated by LE-affiliated appointees and run within the sheriff's office, not external civilian oversight. No Indiana county has an external civilian review or inspector-general body covering the sheriff. Marion County's Unigov consolidation (1970) preserved the elected sheriff as a separate constitutional office; no external oversight body exists.
